The 20-year old Armenian athlete from Gyumri scored the third medal for Armenia. Even though everyone was certain that he would bring home the gold after his last match, the second match was what stood in his way. Artur started performing in the 1/8 final round and lost to his second opponent, Iranian wrestler Ghasem Rezae.

The Iranian was fighting for the gold medal with Russian wrestler Rustam Totrov and won him.

Europe’s champion Artur also won Turk wrestler Cenk Ildem and scored the bronze after winning Cuban wrestler Junior Falcon. During the two rounds, he managed to push his opponent out of the ring and scored another point.

Unlike the other athletes, Alexanyan wasn’t too pleased with his victory because he wanted to score a medal of a different color. However, we remind that Artur is still 20 years old.
