Weightlifter Hripsime Khurshudyan scored the bronze medal in the London Olympic Games.
Hripsime Khurshudyan, who turned 25 a couple a days ago, represented Armenia at the women’s weightlifting championship. Her first category in the snatch drill was 122 kg and then she moved up to 124 kg.
Hripsime, who was quite lower than her competitors, kept the 128 kg above her head during the second approach. However, she failed in the third approach and didn’t go over 132 kg. However, this was just the beginning.
In the jerk, the Armenian weightlifter had previously ordered 155 kg, but approached the 158 kg and kept the barbells above her head without great difficulty. The referees didn’t count the 166 kg since Hripsime had kneeled during the second part of the drill-something that is prohibited according to the laws of the game. However, while lifting for the third time, Hripsime proved that she was capable of lifting the barbells and…move ahead.
Although wrestler Arsen Julfalakyan had already scored a medal for Armenia, Hripsime Khurshudyan officially became the first medalist and added another medal to her other medals that she has scored at international tournaments.
Chinese weightlifter Ju Lulu scored the Olympic gold with 333 kg.
We add that Hripsime had painted her nails red, blue and orange, and perhaps that was what helped her celebrate her victory..
